We know that Leon and his brother Kedzie left New York for Alaska in 1894, but we don’t have the exact reason as to why.

We can make assumptions on why, but we don’t really know. It does seem bizarre for a couple of Winne boys in their young twenties to just up and leave a place that could offer you plenty of opportunities thanks to your last name and your family’s land ownership.
